Ethiopia's Lelisa Desisa took his first New York City Marathon title with a mighty finish beating his compatriot Shura Kitata to win by two seconds in 2:05:59. Defending champion Geoffrey Kamworor of Kenya settled in third with a time of 2:06:26.

Kenya's Mary Keitany won the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, 4 November. The-36-year old Keitany, who finished in second place a year ago crossed the line in 2:22:48 to win her 4th NYC Marathon title. At the 2017 London Marathon, Keitany broke women's only world record with 2:17:01.
