Women's 1000m Herculis Monaco Diamond League: Kenya's Faith Kipyegon almost broke the women's 1000m World record clockoing a very impressive 2:29.15 for the win. She missed Svetlana Masterkova's World record only 0.17 seconds. In the same race Laura Muir set a new British record with 2:30.82 while Ciara Mageean set a new Irish record with 2:31.06. The last time a women broke the 2:30 barrier in the 1000m was back in 1996 when Maria Mutola clocked 2:29.66 in a Golden League meet in Bruxelles.

Timothy Cheruiyot, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Jake Wightman produced stunning sub 3:30 in the men's 1500m at the Herculis Monaco Diamond League on Friday (14). The reigning World champion, Cheruiyot held off Jacob Ingebrigsten, the European champion, to clock a World lead of 3:28.45. Surprisingly, the 19-year-old Jacob broke Mo Farah's European record by finishing 2nd in a stunning 3:28.68. Scotland's Jake Wightman also produced a shock performance by setting a new personal best by more than five seconds to finish third with 3:29.47 and to move him up to second place in the British all-time lists.

Reigning World discus throw champion Daniel Stahl of Sweden produced a huge 71.37m throw, the second farthest of his career at the Sollentuna Grand Prix on Monday. At first, his mark was disqualified because the meets official though he had stepped outside the ring. But after reviewing the throw, his mark was reinstated.
