Watch the greatest men's shot put competition. Just one 1cm separated gold from bronze medal as the championship record was broken sveral times. The home crowd favorite Mustaz Essa Barshim cleared a season's best and World lead of 2.37m to become the first man in history to defend World Athletics Championships high jump title in Doha on Friday (4). Just 14 months ago Barshim suffered an ankle injury while attempting to break Javier Sotomayor's 2.45-meter world record at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial in Szekesfehervar, Hungary. Mutaz, then, had to undergo emergency surgery for sprained and ruptured ligaments. But to 2019 World Championships, Barshim arrived in top form as he cleared 2.19m, 2.24m, 2.27m, 2.30m, 2.35m, and 2.37m for the gold on his first attempt.

Dalilah Muhammad of the United States broke her own 400m hurdles World record to win the gold with a time of 52.16 in a thrilling matchup against her compatriot Sydney McLaughlin. 20-year-old McLaughlin who pushed Muhammad all the way to the finish came in second with the 2nd fastest time in the history of 52.23.
