On March 13, 2003, Great Britains Paula Radcliffe shocked everyone by clocking a sensation women's marathon world record of 2:15:25 in London. Her record stood for 17 years until Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei smashed her world record with 2:14:04 in the Chicago Marathon last October. Radcliffe's time still remains as the European record and is considered by many as one the greatest performance in the history of women’s marathon running.
